Driveway Information & Recommendations
- Do
not drive or park your vehicle on your new
driveway/parking area for 24 hours.
- Do
not spin or turn your car wheel in one place on
the new driveway for a period of seven days. This
will prevent scuffing or placing unnecessary
indentations into the new asphalt surface. Most
normal scuffing or surface marks will disappear
with time and use of the driveway.
- A
thin film of oil is located on the surface of the
newly installed asphalt. This film of oil will
disappear within 30 days of use. At this time, we
recommend a commercial grade sealer which meets
federal specifications, #RP-355e, be applied.
This sealer will protect your driveway from
substances such as gasoline, oils, greases,
kerosene, etc.
- Use
a door mat until after one substantial rain in
order to protect tracking of a light residue of
materials such as oil, sand and loose gravel into
your garage, carport or house. It is normal for
loose gravel and sand to be present around the
joints of the new asphalt for the first 30 days
or until the first rain has washed it away.
- In
a small tight turn area, the asphalt must be
worked by hand instead of mechanical equipment.
This will create a different textured surface,
but will not alter the life of the asphalt.
- We
recommend back filling with soil the high sides
of your new driveway to prevent the edges from
cracking or crumbling.
